Mission and History
Catholic Academy of Waterbury, through a collaborative STREAM program, nurtures an inclusive, diverse student body to maximize spiritual, academic, moral, and social development. We promote mutual respect, self-discipline, self-motivation, and an awareness of global citizenship in an environment in which students encounter the love and truth of Jesus Christ.
Catholic Academy of Waterbury officially opened its doors on July 1, 2018. Our inaugural year welcomed more than 300 students in grades Pre-K through 8th grade! Catholic Academy of Waterbury is a school within the Archdiocese of Hartford, but is led locally by the Very Rev. James M. Sullivan, Rector of the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, and Rev. William Agyemang, Administrator of Blessed Sacrament Parish, in collaboration with Principal, Mrs. Christa Chodkowski.
Catholic Academy of Waterbury is a heritage school of Blessed Sacrament School and St. Mary School. Innovation and tradition paved the way for Catholic Academy of Waterbury, which is located on Robinwood Road at the former Blessed Sacrament School. The culture of both schools lives on at Catholic Academy of Waterbury!
